1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander leaves, chopped
1 tablespoon oil
4 slices of whole wheat bread
oil for cooking
Preparation
Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, combine gram flour, turmeric powder, red chili powder, ajwain, and salt.
Add water gradually to make a smooth, lump-free batter. The consistency should be thick enough to coat the bread slices.
Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan.
Add finely chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
Add ginger-garlic paste and green chili . Sauté for another minute.
Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
Add the mashed potatoes and mix thoroughly.
Add garam masala powder and chopped fresh coriander leaves. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
Take a slice of whole wheat bread and spread a generous amount of the potato filling on one side. Cover it with another slice of bread, forming a sandwich.
Cut the sandwich diagonally to form two triangles.
Heat a tawa on medium heat and lightly grease it with a few drops of oil.
Dip each bread triangle into the gram flour batter, ensuring it is well coated.
Place the coated bread triangles on the hot tawa.
Cook on each side until golden brown and crispy, adding a few drops of oil as needed to prevent sticking.
Serve the healthy bread pakoras hot with mint-coriander chutney.
